Mortals
What classifies as a "mortal" in this universe depends on these things:
Mortals populate most of the society of Pelepia. Which include towns, cities, businesses, organizations, companies, ect. that help encourage the rise and growth of the Pelepian nation. These are known as civilized mortals.
Mortals who choose not to be part of the civilized society are classified as tribal. They tend to live far away from civilized life and use only what nature provides for them. But they are usually just as intelligent as the civilized mortals
What distinguishes an Animal from a Mortal is mainly their difference in intelligence. Mortals of all species are referred to as "people" in Pelepia, kinda like how you would call a group of humans "people".
- The creature is capable of higher level and rational thinking, creative thinking, is able to solve problems, and use logic and reason to understand the world around them
- The creature is able to use language to communicate. They are also able to adapt to other languages that can be translated.
- The creature is able to die and reproduce

Species Classes
All animal and mortal species are classified based on their certain characteristics. There are currently 4 classes that any species can fall into.
CALDIAThe class Caldia consists of mammalian-like creatures.
|
AVEAThe class Avea consists of bird, reptile and fish-like creatures.
|
AMORPHOThe class Amorpho consists of insect-like and amorphous creatures.
|
FERANORGANThe class Feranogan consists of artificially created beings. This is a relatively new class that was established and there is still debate among mortals whether these beings should be considered actual citizens.

Breeding and Hybridization among Mortals
Only mortals within their species family name are able to breed together. If two different subspecies have a child (let's say for example: a Canigama and Poodala from the Canilui family) the offspring usually has a 50/50 chance of being either the father's subspecies or the mother's subspecies, with traits of the other parent sprinkled on.True hybridization rarely occurs among children of different subspecies, but can happen (about 4%). The most common hybrids usually have a 20/80 split in genes between parents. 50/50 splits in genes are very rare, but will create a 'perfect' hybrid. However, infertility is a common problem among 'perfect' hybrids.
Tier Jumping
Some mortals have the ability to "Tier Jump" on the Hierarchy of Being to higher states of being. Such as going into Spirit mode for example or in extremely rare cases, Arch mode. However this ability is very rare and only happens to a select few who deem themselves worthy. They also cannot stay in their forms for too long however. Mortals with the Tier Jumping ability are not immune to dying however.
