FAMILY: HUMANA
The species family of Humana consists of humans and human-like Mortal species and are able to interbreed with each other. They are generally called "humanoids" by the common public. Humanoids are usually a civilized Mortal species.
The New Human
A neo-human (usually just referred to as "human") is a new species of humans that emerged after the original human race (immigrated from Earth) died off in Pelepia. Neo-humans look pretty much exactly the same as their human ancestors, but are able to adapt to the environment extraordinarily well and gain abilites. Not to mention that they are far more intelligent and stronger than they were before (although some humans beg to differ). Humans that are unable to gain abilities (like Jake) are seen as inferior. Some abilities include using magic, having extremely high intelligence or obtaining superpowers. They are also one of the few Mortal creatures that are able to be affiliated with any of the 10 elements and attributes. Other than that, humans have not really changed in temperament or nature. So they pretty much behave like normal humans. Just like you. Yes, YOU. Well ok, maybe with a smaller superiority complex, since they're no longer the dominant species on the planet.
A "humanoid" is a group name given to subspecies of humans that do not look entirely human, but share similar characteristics to them and are able to breed with them. They branched off from the original humans and have evolved differently depending on the environment they lived in. Some have evolved far beyond human capability and can even be considered equals to higher evolved species. However, there are also some humanoids considered even more inferior to normal humans. Humanoids can have similar or totally different natures to humans depending on what subspecies. The number of purebred humans and humanoids seem to dwindle down as times goes on due to interbreeding, so the majority of humans in Pelepia tend to have the blood of both human and various humanoid species. Half-Elves (from Human/Elf parents) tend to be the most common humanoid hybrid.

Human History and Perception of them from other Species
Attitudes of other Pelepian species towards humans have changed over time. Humans were originally considered in the same category as "animals" since they recently descended from a species that they considered "primitive" by their standards. However, humans fought long and hard for the right to be considered "mortals" as the other intelligent species in Pelepia were, and eventually their persistence paid off. Here's a timeline as it pertains to the stories:
Gen 1: After the humans achieved their declassification as "animals" and became assimilated into society, fearful and authoritarian Pelepians began to attack them in masses (known as the Human Genocide), in fears that they may collapse their society if given too much power. After this travesty, Empriss Grande demanded reparations for the humans by giving them extra benefits and forcing country leaders to take in the surviving human orphans and raise them. Some of them are also elevated to leadership roles (such as Prince Lexi) which give Pelepians mixed feelings.
Gen 2: Despite being seen as mostly equal to other intelligent species in Pelepia, a vast majority of Pelepians still see humans as inferior in terms of power and intelligence, and are sometimes treated as second class citizens in some regions. However, pro-humanist movements begin to arise in Asumara, Shalabahala and Kuzmimi Island to combat this. Human slavery is still common in anti-humanist continents.
Gen 3: Anti-humanist groups have been abolished and humans now face little to no discrimination. The only places that still look down upon them are North Antinacia and Vulcania since they are mostly non-human dominated.
Humans and humanoids make up 35% of Pelepian society, which is quite a large percentage for one species. In fact some other species have found it problematic and few have even rallied up anti-humanist groups to lead humankind into extinction. Humans are found on every continent on Pelepia except Vulkania, which is HIGHLY anti-humanistic. The majority of them live in Kuzmimi Island or Asumara.

Some Differences in Culture and Biology
Humans in Pelepia do not follow norms that they have followed in the past on Earth. They have evolved and in turn changed ways of life. Here are some of those differences:
- Humans on average are able to solve basic math problems, read and speak in complete sentences by the age of two. By this time, humans have the brain capacity of an average 6 year old
- Humans are required to go to a general education school at the age of 3. Here they are fed with general knowledge of how the world works and things the average Pelepian should know. After graduating from the school at age 8, they are then required to find out what their true purpose is in life and go a boarding school specific to that purpose (ex: medical school/military school ect.)
- Adulthood starts at age 16 and the time schooling stops.
- Humans can live until the age of 150 on average. The longest on record is 202.
- The concept of "race" has little to no importance among humans and have evolved past racist tendencies in this world. Their newest challenge however, is speciesism from non-humanoids.
- Non-humanoids often categorize humanoids by "breeds" from their different physical features and places of origin. Humans have interbred with many subspecies of humans throughout the years, to a point where a purebred human is extremely rare to find. Most humans will have the blood of some other subspecies of humans in most cases.
