The Underworld
The Underworld (not to be confused with another version of "Hell") is a group of lands that were originally part of Pelepia but broke off from the planet during the First Apocalpse, sent to another dimension and were neglected to be reconstructed. Since then, this world has not changed and still has retained its ruin-like structure and hardly any organic life grows here. But that doesnt mean that there arent any living things here of course! The former Pelepians that lived in this part of the world have evolved to adapt to the Underworld's harsh environment and in turn, have even evolved further to become even more powerful than the Pelepians that live in the "Overworld", another named for Pelepia, as they call it. Since then, they have become bitter and jealous of the Overworlders, because of how much the Gods favored them and helped them restore their land. These individuals are classified as Demons, and make up the majority of the Underworld Population. Demons who have evolved further and rule over these demons are classified as Archdemons.
The intelligent population of Underworld is approximately 2 billion, which includes all Demons and Archedemons. There are also a good number of demonic Animals that live here as well. D-mon, a God that broke off from the Heaven's World, is the ruler of this world. He is now known as the God of Demons. Due to the betrayal of the Gods and the terrible living conditions they now live in, the majority of these Demons now feel a strong hatred towards the Overworlders and the Gods that live in the Heaven's World. Therefore they are often known to have malicious intentions and are seen as the enemy of Pelepians.
As time went by, some of the Archdemons and Demons have learned ways to cross over to the Overworld to wreak havoc. Because of the turmoil between the Underworlders and Overworlders, the Gods have created a barrier between the two worlds called the "Inferno Gate". However, Archdemons began to learn how to create Summoning Gates to bypass this barrier by creating a very complicated summoning circle with the blood of a Demon sacrifice. This is how Demons and Archdemons are able to invade Pelepian lands and causing as much destruction as they can. The main goal of the Underworld population is to take over Pelepian lands so that they can rebuild their society.
The environment is very harsh and chaotic. No water or plants grow here, only jagged pieces of land that seem to float in space or in the air. Lava and fire are also very prevalent here, which makes this world much more hotter in temperature. The atmosphere is mainly made up of carbon monoxide, which is poisonous to Overworlders who use oxygen to breathe. However the Underworlders have adapted to be able to live here. However, there are some fertile and more...visually appealing.. areas, but they are mostly reserved for high ranking Archdemons who no one would dare cross.

Demon Creation and Types
Demons are categorized by their DNA and how they materialize in the natural realm:
Type A (Divine) : Also known as the "Highbreed" type, these demons are the first, original demons who appeared in the Underworld. They have no blood connection to any other non-demonic species. They consider themselves to be true, purebred demons and often look down upon other demons. Many of these demons are also Archdemons
Type B (Natal) : These demons resemble animals and mortals from the Overworld and are often considered corrupted versions of them. They can either reproduce by infection or be created from a mortal.
Type C (Amorphous) : This type of demon are usually manifestations of abstract concepts such as nightmares. They may not present as a distinguishable shape or be physically seen.
Creating new demons can be brought about in multiple ways. Such as...
- Infecting other mortals or becoming a parasite produced by another demon. Because of this, they are often classified as an advanced Virus type species.
- When a dead mortal navigates themselves out of Purgatory but is sucked into the Underworld to become corrupted.
- Killing or corrupting an unrestful spirit (ghost).

Ideology and LifestyleMany Underworlders take "the strong live while the weak die" ideal very firmly. They believe this is the natural order of the world and the way it was intended for beings to progress in life. As weaker, inferior life dies off, more powerful and evolved beings will prosper, eventually becoming divine beings to hopefully take down the Gods and restore their glory. Because of this, many demons have a very self-centered personality and will refuse to help others unless some benefit is provided to them.
Because of the Underworld's harsh enviroment and limited resources, many precautions have made to keep up life in the Underworld and making sure that the Underworlders prevail. Unfortunately many of these precautions are pretty brutal. Such as... SacrificeEvery demon that is killed in the Underworld is sacrificed to Gargora, the Archdemon of Exchange. It is the only Archdemon that can change the Underworld's climate to provide it with fruitful harvest and enough food for the Underworlders to eat. Because of this, Underworlders tend to be very favorable towards the idea of sacrifice. During sacrificial ceremonies, the sacrificed demon will be chained to an altar that is used to summon Gargora, who will then consume them.

9 layers of the underworldInstead of the world being pieced together nicely in a sphere like most planets, this world is basically a cesspool of broken pieces of land that floats in another dimension. But the Underworlders have categorized this world by its layers, for each one has different features that distinguish it. Think of it as their version of "countries". These layers are based off of Dante's Inferno and the 9 Circles of Hell.
Layer 1: Null (limbo) - This is the first layer beyond Purgatory. It is a relatively barren landscape. Only few non-responsive demons reside here. Layer 2: Vineath (lust) - This is the most populated area of the underworld. High rise mountains. More flying and air based demons reside here. Layer 3: Czyst (gluttony) - A freezing cold and acid rain Layer 4: Terren (greed) - Rocky area. Golem types. Layer 5: (wrath) - Watery/Lava area Layer 6: (heresy) - grave site/tall spires Layer 7: (violence) - harshest land/sandstorms/thorns Layer 8 (fraud) - land of archdemons Layer 9: (treachery) - D-mon (god of demons) resides here |
